If you couldn't use your seat reservation because of a strike, a cancelled train or a delayed connecting train, don't cancel your seat reservation in Interrail Self-Service. If you do, you'll only get the amount refunded automatically, and we can't claim anything more for you. Follow the steps below instead.
Booked with a seat reservation credit?
If your train was cancelled and you can't rebook it, contact the DiscoverEU Travel Team and send us proof of the cancellation. We'll check whether we can give you a replacement credit.
Your travel date is today
- Check the Planner for the next train. If it doesn't need a seat reservation, add the new trains to your Pass and continue your journey. When you arrive, contact us about a refund for the reservation you couldn't use.
- If the next train does need a seat reservation, talk to the train staff. If you're on a delayed train, ask for written proof of the delay. At the station, go to the information desk and ask to be rebooked. Show them the cancellation or delay notice and your seat reservation for the missed train. They should arrange your onward journey, including any new seat reservations, free of charge.
Your travel date is in the future
Book a new seat reservation as soon as possible. If you can't find one for the day you want to travel, try a route without seat reservations. Tips to avoid seat reservations

How do I get my money back?
Whether your travel date is in the future or in the past, contact the DiscoverEU Travel Team, and we'll claim the cost back from the train company for you. If the train company sent you a cancellation notice, please include it in your message. The €2 booking fee can't be refunded.
