When opting for the DiscoverEU Interrail Pass, you can travel on trains operated by participating European national railway companies as well as a select number of ferry and public transport companies. The DiscoverEU initiative is aimed at exploring the Member States of the European Union. Therefore, even when travelling with an Interrail Pass, we ask you to focus mainly on visiting the EU Member States.
The Interrail Global Pass is valid in all of the countries coloured on this map:
The schedules of all trains in the blue-coloured countries can be found in your Planner. This means that you can easily plan your trip within, and between these countries using the DiscoverEU Travel App. For more information on how to get started, check out this article.
Your Pass is also valid in the pink-coloured countries. These countries are not incorporated in the Planner of the DiscoverEU app, so you will have to pay a bit more attention when planning your trip here. We have compiled a very useful guide for travelling to these countries, which can be found here.
In addition, railways run through Monaco and Liechtenstein, operated by the national railways of France and Austria respectively. Furthermore, Interrail Global Passes include ferry crossings from Patras and Igoumenitsa (Greece) to Venice, Ancona and Bari (Italy), which are operated by Superfast Ferries and Blue Star Ferries (fuel surcharges, port taxes, high season supplements as well as cabin accommodation are not included in your Pass). For more information about taking ferries with your Interrail Pass, you can check out this article.
The Interrail Passes are not valid on railways in Albania, Belarus, Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine.
There are no railways in Andorra, Cyprus, the Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Iceland, Malta, or San Marino.
