The European Union and the United Kingdom have reached an agreement which came into effect at 23:00 GMT on 31 December 2020. You can complete the Brexit Checker in order to verify what procedures apply to you. Below, you can find the main changes.
EU Citizens
As of October 2021, European citizen need to have a valid passport to travel to the UK.
UK Citizens
From January 2021, you'll need to travel to the EU with your passport, which needs to follow the two conditions below:
- Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your departure date to the EU.
- Your passport should have been issued less than 10 years ago.
As a tourist, you will not need to have a visa to most EU countries. You'll be able to stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period. However, these 90 days do not apply for travels to Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Romania. For each one of these countries, you'll need to verify if a visa is required or not.
