The Planner in the DiscoverEU Travel app shows you which trains need a seat reservation. When you search for a journey, the route information tells you if a seat reservation is required or recommended, with an estimated price.
- Required: you must have a seat reservation to take this train. Your Pass isn't valid on it without one.
- Recommended: a seat reservation is optional, but it guarantees you a seat on busy trains.

Travelling in summer? Book your seat reservations as early as possible, as popular trains sell out quickly.
