Booking through the DiscoverEU Travel app
When you book a seat reservation in the app, it takes you to Interrail Self-Service to complete your booking.
Your first 4 seat reservations are free with your seat reservation credits. When you book, your credits are used first. Once you've used them all, you pay for extra seat reservations yourself, by card, PayPal or another payment method shown at checkout. We recommend PayPal, or iDEAL if you have a Dutch bank account, as these usually work best. How seat reservation credits work
Note: if you take part in DiscoverEU through a local organisation, you may not receive seat reservation credits. In that case, the information about credits doesn't apply to you.
Please note: a non-refundable booking fee of €2 per traveller per train applies to paid seat reservations made through the app. What seat reservation fees can I expect?
Booking directly with a train company or partner
You can also book seat reservations directly with some train companies and their partners, for example on their website or app, or at the station. Payment methods depend on the company and the country. At stations, you can usually pay in cash and often by debit card.
- Make sure you book a seat reservation for Pass holders, not a full train ticket.
- Your seat reservation credits can only be used when you book through the DiscoverEU Travel app (via Interrail Self-Service), not directly with a train company or partner.
- If you need to change or cancel your booking, contact the company you booked with.
