No. City buses, trams and metros are not included in your DiscoverEU Interrail Pass.
In some cities, suburban trains run by the national train company (for example, the S-Bahn in Germany or Austria) are included. But each day you use them counts as a Travel Day. For short trips within a city, a regular ticket is usually cheaper, so save your Travel Days for longer journeys. How Travel Days work
Tips to save money on local transport
- Use your discounts. Your European Youth Card (in the app under More) gives you discounts on local transport, bikes and e-scooters in many cities. Your Pass also gives you Pass Benefits, including discounts on city passes, some of which include public transport.
- Get off at the station closest to where you're staying. If there's a smaller train station near your accommodation, end or start your train journey there instead of at the main station. It's part of the same Travel Day, so you save yourself a bus or metro ticket.
- Buy a travel card. If you're staying in a city for a few days, a day or multi-day ticket for buses, trams and the metro is often cheaper than buying single tickets. You can usually buy one from the local transport company's ticket machines or ticket desks.
- Rent a bike or e-scooter. It's a fun way to explore a city at your own pace, and you can often get a discount with your European Youth Card or Pass Benefits.
