Some stations have automatic gates that you need to scan a ticket to get through. Whether your Pass opens them depends on the country.
Where can I scan my Pass at the gates?
- France (TER regional train gates only), Italy and the Netherlands: hold the QR code in My Pass against the scanner to open the gate.
- All other countries, or if the gate doesn't open: ask a member of staff at the station to let you through.
Travelling on a train with a seat reservation? You may need to scan the barcode on your seat reservation ticket at the gate instead. Keep your Pass QR code ready too, as you'll need to show it during ticket inspection. How ticket inspection works
Getting off at Brussels Airport? To enter or leave Brussels Airport station, you need to pay an extra fee called the Brussels Airport Supplement (also known as the Diabolo fee). This isn't covered by your Pass. Buy it at a ticket machine or ticket desk, then ask staff to let you through the gates. You don't need it if you're only changing trains at the airport.
