With your DiscoverEU Interrail Pass and travel documents ready, ticket inspection is quick and hassle-free.
When a ticket inspector asks for your ticket, simply show the QR-code for your travel day in the My Pass section of the app. If you need help creating your QR-code, check out this article.
Make sure you've added the correct journeys to your Pass before you travel. In most countries, ticket inspectors will check your journey details visually. In some countries, they will also scan your Pass barcode. You may also be asked to show your passport or ID card to confirm that the Pass belongs to you.
Ticket inspectors can currently scan Pass barcodes in Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland, The Netherlands, and Türkiye. In all other countries, tickets are checked visually.
Travelling with a seat reservation
If your train requires a seat reservation, you'll need to show both your Pass QR-code and your seat reservation ticket. Your Pass QR-code is not a seat reservation, and seat reservations are always issued as separate tickets.
Before travelling, make sure your seat reservation ticket is either printed or downloaded to your phone. If you cannot show a valid seat reservation on a train where one is required, your Pass is not valid for that journey.
Ticket gates on high-speed trains
Some high-speed trains use ticket gates at the station. If you come across these, scan the barcode on your seat reservation ticket to open the gates.
If your ticket is checked again on board, simply show your Pass QR-code together with your seat reservation ticket.
