When the ticket inspector asks for your ticket, show the QR code for that day in the My Pass section of the DiscoverEU Travel app. Each Travel Day has its own QR code.
Before you board, make sure you’ve added your journey to your Pass. Inspectors check the journey details on your QR code, and in some countries they also scan it. They may also ask to see your passport or ID card to check that the Pass is yours. How to add a journey to your Pass
Travelling with a seat reservation
If your train needs a seat reservation, show both your Pass QR code and your seat reservation ticket. Your QR code is not a seat reservation. Seat reservations are always separate tickets, so save yours on your phone or print it before you travel. Without a valid seat reservation on a train that requires one, your Pass is not valid for that journey.
Station gates
Some stations have ticket gates before the platform. For high-speed trains, scan the barcode on your seat reservation ticket to open them. In Italy and the Netherlands, you can also open some platform gates with your Pass QR code.
Avoid being charged by mistake. Some gates also accept contactless payments. If you use Apple Pay or Google Wallet, your phone may pay for a ticket when you hold it near the reader, instead of showing your QR code. Before you scan, turn off contactless payments on your phone (for example, Express Mode on iPhone or NFC on Android). You can turn them back on afterwards.
