Once you have completed your booking form, you'll receive an email from Interrail with your Pass number. Add this to the DiscoverEU Travel App and follow the steps below to get your Pass ready for travel. You can also watch our short video on how to activate your Pass here.
Activating your Pass
You can either follow the link in your Interrail confirmation email or complete the steps below:
- Download the DiscoverEU Travel App from the App Store (Apple) or Play Store (Android) and log in to your account. You can find the minimum iOS and Android requirements in this article.
- If you're logging in for the first time, select "Start by setting a password" and enter your email address. We'll send you a link to set up your account.
- You`ll be asked whether or not to enable notifications for the DiscoverEU Travel App. We use these to inform participants about train network disruptions, such as strikes or major service issues, so we strongly recommend keeping them turned on.
- Log in to the app. If it's your first time signing in, it may take a few moments for your Pass to appear.
- Once the Pass is added, you`ll be asked to verify your passport or ID number. This must match the travel document you'll use during your trip, as ticket inspectors may ask to see it.
-
Choose your travel period. You'll need to schedule the one-month Pass validity period during which you plan to travel. Within this period, you can plan your 7 travel days.
- Add travel days in My Pass or by activating a train in My Trip.
- Travel days can be cancelled or changed before the day starts.
- If you want to change your one-month validity period, you must do so before it begins.
For more information, please see this this article.
- Once activated, your Pass will always be available in My Pass.
- You're now ready to create QR codes for your journeys. For more information, see this article. We've also collected useful trip-planning tips and tricks here.
Not sure when you're starting your trip?
Don`t worry, you can change your travel period later, as long as it hasn't started yet. Please note that you must be online to activate your Pass and you cannot board your first train until your Pass has been activated.
How do I know when I'm using a travel day?
Any day with a journey added to your Pass counts as a travel day. You can view your activated travel days in My Trip and My Pass. When you add a train to your Pass, the app will ask whether you'd like to activate a travel day for that journey.
Can I cancel a travel day?
Yes. You can cancel a travel day until 23:59 on the day before it starts. Once a travel day has begun, it can no longer be cancelled and will be counted as used.
If you also need to change your one-month validity period, make sure you do this before it starts. For more information, please see this article.
Do night trains use more travel days?
No. Night trains only require one travel day. If your night train arrives after midnight, only the departure day needs to be a travel day.
You'll only need an additional travel day if you continue travelling on another train after your night train arrives. If this applies, the app will prompt you to activate another travel day when adding the journey to your Pass.
